Body Jet Liposuction Study Day held at Hexham General Hospital on 23 February 2008

A very successful Study Day on Liposuction was hosted by the McLean Academy of Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery on 23 February 2008. It was attended by delegates from all over the United Kingdom, the morning session being devoted to lecturers and question and answer sessions. The invited guest speakers were Dr Hartmut Myer from Hamburg, Mr Arnd Kenzy from Hamburg and Mr Bryan Majou from London. The history of liposuction was discussed as well as a comparison of all current methods of fat removal.

Lively discussions ensued between the delegates and the speakers and after lunch Dr Myer demonstrated on 2 patients who had extensive liposuction performed using the body jet system, under local anaesthesia and sedation. One male patient underwent correction of gynaecomastia and a female patient underwent liposculpture of the hips and thighs. The audience were greatly impressed by the technique and both patients have made a full recovery without any complications.
