Due to the current Corona Virus Crisis, the Private Hospitals and Clinics from where I normally consult have been closed and we are only able to see urgent patients. I apologise for the inconvenience.

If there is anything that you wish to discuss with me, then could you please contact Debbie my private secretary on 07502036457 or at debbiewood147@gmail.com, with your contact details and I will telephone you with advice and if it is necessary I will make arrangements to see you at the nearest private hospital to you.

No-one knows exactly how long this situation is going to continue, but one would estimate it will probably be between three and six months before we get back to normal. I look forward to seeing you at that time and wish you and your families all the very best.

Excessive Underarm Sweating

Botox surgery can reduce the effect of excessive underarm sweating that people experience. Local injections into the underarm reversibly stun the human sweat glands for around 6 months. This procedure is becoming the preference of individuals that are allergic to certain anti-sweating products, those that feel uncomfortable with excess sweating and those that have conditions that cause them to sweat more regularly.

The procedure which is performed in the outpatients clinic, involves injecting into the area that the patient and surgeon agree is most appropriate. Botox surgery is a relatively uncomplicated process but it still demands due attention and care.

Other treatments include the use of strong anti-perspirants. liposuction and curettage of the sweat glands in the armpit and excision of the sweat gland bearing skin in the axilla.

Preparation

Before undergoing botox treatments for excessive underarm sweating, consideration and preparation are vital. Those who are considering the procedure should clearly outline their targets and openly discuss this with their consultant. Those who are considering the procedure should be aware of the risks and complications that can arise as well as the practical changes that are needed prior to surgery. Patients are required to stop taking medication which alters blood viscosity including aspirin, birth control and hormone correction. In preparation of surgery it is also highly recommended that patients avoid smoking, to promote a quicker recovery.

After the Operation

Following Botox injections patients should avoid smoking and avoid eating solids until 24 hours after the operation.

Recovering from Excessive Underarm Botox Treatment

  • Patients should avoid smoking as well as any exposure to passive smoking prior to and after the procedure

For the large majority of adults who undergo excessive underarm sweating botox treatment the results will be a success with no unforeseen consequences. Despite this, the capacity for risks and complications remain, as is the case for almost all surgical procedures.

Risks and complications

  • Infections are possible
  • Possible scarring
  • Excessive bruising may occur
  • You may have unsatisfactory results

By nature all medical procedures carry an element of risk. While the majority of patients do not experience any complication during our underarm sweating procedures, before embarking on any medical procedure it is advisable to consult fully with the McLean Academy so that our qualified staff can suitably discuss any risk or concerns that your procedure may pose.
