Due to the current Corona Virus Crisis, the Private Hospitals and Clinics from where I normally consult have been closed and we are only able to see urgent patients. I apologise for the inconvenience.

If there is anything that you wish to discuss with me, then could you please contact Debbie my private secretary on 07502036457 or at debbiewood147@gmail.com, with your contact details and I will telephone you with advice and if it is necessary I will make arrangements to see you at the nearest private hospital to you.

No-one knows exactly how long this situation is going to continue, but one would estimate it will probably be between three and six months before we get back to normal. I look forward to seeing you at that time and wish you and your families all the very best.

Fat Injection (Lipo Modelling)

This is a relatively new technique in which the patients own fat is removed for example from the abdomen or thighs and is transferred to an area of cosmetic abnormality.

The fat is harvested using the bodyjet liposuction method, it is then purified and using fine needles injected back into the patient, at sites where it is required. Common areas for Lipo Modelling are tight scars, divots in the breast following breast cancer treatments and in the face to increase facial volume.

The procedure is generally done under general anaesthetic as a day case for small areas and over night if larger amounts of fat are being transferred.

Some of the transferred fat will be reabsorbed by the body so slightly more than required is injected. There will be some bruising and tenderness both at the harvest site and the injection area and these normally settle over 10 to 14 days.

Patients are given anti biotic cover although infection is rare however if infection does occur, the transferred fat can be lost as it can dissolve away.

Prior to surgery all patients should stop smoking as this has a detrimental effect on the bodies acceptance of the transferred fat.

By nature, all medical procedures carry an element of risk. While the majority of patients do not experience any complications, before embarking on any medical procedure, it is advisable to consult fully with the McLean Academy so that our qualified staff can suitably discuss any risk or concerns that your procedure may pose.Lipo Modelling is a surgical procedure with minimal risks.
