The Newcastle Conference on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery held on 13 & 14 December 2007
The Newcastle Conference on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery was held at the Royal Station Hotel, Newcastle upon Tyne on 13 and 14 December 2007. A highly respected international panel of guest speakers, including Professor David David from Adelaide, Mr Dai Davis from London and Mr John Cherry from Lancashire, gave a series of lectures and discussions on many controversial topics in plastic surgery.
The current discussions on training and teaching in cosmetic surgery occupied a large part of the first morning and this was followed by financial and Medico-legal advice for those considering setting up in Private Practice.
Pre-operative assessment in facial plastic surgery and the role of cranio-maxillofacial techniques were then discussed in great detail.
The second day began with advice on how to write a correct Medico-Legal Report and there was then a heated discussion on the use of facial implants. The operations of rhinoplasty, nasal septal surgery, face and neck lifting and endoscopic forehead lifting were then discussed and debated. All of those who attended gained greatly from the meeting and some comments from the participants are as follows
"All the speakers were of an excellent quality".
"The Conference venue was excellent and convenient for those arriving by train"
"This meeting was relevant to my work"
"This meeting was well planned and I was given adequate time to assimilate the given information"
As a result of the tremendous success of this meeting the McLean Academy is working on a provisional programme for the next Newcastle Conference on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
